Susie's Story
Doing more of what makes us truly happy in life should be our priority, yet most of us don’t slow down long enough to consciously make this choice. We prioritize work. We prioritize attaining the perfect house or a nicer car. We prioritize "keeping up” with the perceived perfection of friends' lives on social media. Is this happiness? Deep down we know what happiness & joy feel like in our soul, yet we tend to put what matters most - time with friends & family - off to the side for far less important endeavors.
We lost our mother/grandmother to Alzheimer’s in October of 2020. The most vibrant & full-of-life woman one could imagine, Susie LOVED Boston, especially the Red Sox (Screaming & hugging her after Dave Henderson’s home run in Game 5 of the ’86 ALCS is my all-time favorite memory of her). Boston became her city & soon our family's. She created a TON of memories for all of us, & we assumed there would be a TON more.
We took her to her last game at Fenway in 2013 (a fact I didn’t realize at the time), because she wanted my youngest nephew to experience the pure magic of Fenway. That day I took a TON of pictures of us all, which was atypical for me. Thank God I did.
That day defined happiness.
My 2 nephews & I chose to launch Ton of Boston because we wanted to do something, as a family, to honor Susie.
We’re committed to making a TON more memories, because that’s precisely what she would want us to do. We’re also committed to doing our part to give back & help find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease which is why we were sponsors in the Ride to END ALZ New England 2024 Ton of Giving. So for us, & hopefully you, TON of BOSTON is a reminder that life is unpredictable. Consciously choose to do a TON of the things that bring you true happiness with your friends & family. Be present & LIVE a TON of the moments that matter.
